Available Light Workshop

I spent this weekend with five passionate photographers, teaching my Available Light Workshop at PhotoAccess. I always worry that there isn't enough to talk about when teaching available light photography, but the two day workshop always flies by, and we always work right up until the finish time on Sunday afternoon.
One of my favourite exercises is the window light portrait, which is our first practical exercise for the workshop. This prac teaches students about spot metering with manual exposure. It's always great to see the 'light bulb moments' when students see their work for the first time with real feeling and mood, created and controlled by them.

Below are two portraits of Bindi, one of my lovely students.
